GUT Building Services x Benetics: Getting the right information to the right people

GUT Building Services operates across six locations in Switzerland. The Rothenburg branch, with a team of around 45 employees, is led by Sandro Leu. He knows the day-to-day challenges on construction sites inside out – and relies on Benetics.
  • Industry: Building services (heating, cooling, ventilation, climate control, plumbing)
  • Employees: ~120 in total / 45 in Rothenburg
  • Headquarters: Schenkon, Switzerland

The challenge: More data, less clarity

“Digitalization has made everything faster,” says Sandro. “From planning to execution. But communication needs to keep up – because the pressure is growing too.”

He’s seen it many times: important updates don’t reach the team in time. “In the past, updated plans would arrive on paper – first at the office, then eventually on-site. Often, that was too late.”

Now, his team uses Benetics. As soon as a new plan version arrives at the office, it’s available on every phone at the jobsite within seconds. “Especially on large residential developments with 10 to 12 buildings, new plans come in almost daily. And since every update affects multiple trades, it’s crucial that everyone gets the info right away.”

From sticky notes to a digital site journal

Previously, tasks were scribbled on plans or post-its. That required a lot of back-and-forth, and even more follow-up. Add photos sent via WhatsApp or email, and project managers needed a superhuman level of organization to keep things in order. “Now we use Benetics. One photo, a short note, automatic time stamp – done. It’s like a digital project journal that shows exactly what happened, where, and when.”

It doesn’t just streamline operations – it adds security. “Site supervisors and project managers both get a whole new level of visibility. That relieves pressure on both sides.”

Voice first, no pressure

Field reports used to be a constant headache: forgetting the notepad, struggling to write clearly, or hitting language barriers. “With Benetics, that’s almost gone. Anyone can record a report by voice – in Swiss German, or in their native language. It gets automatically translated. That’s a huge win.”

Every undocumented task means lost revenue. Sandro recalls one situation especially well: “One of our workers spent two days correcting faulty wall openings. But since it wasn’t documented, we couldn’t bill for it. That doesn’t happen anymore.”

A step-by-step rollout

The team introduced Benetics gradually: first, a small test with younger site workers and foremen. Then, trainings and short guides for other locations. “We’re not at 100% yet – but we’re well on our way.”

Three major changes with Benetics:

  • Everything in one place: Tasks, photos, notes – all documented and accessible
  • Real communication: Updates reach the crew instantly – and the office, too
  • No more lost revenue: Extra work is recorded by voice, not forgotten on paper

Bottom line: Digital tools that actually help

“It’s not about digitizing everything,” says Sandro. “That just leads to tool overload. But if a tool works as smoothly as Benetics – then it’s a real game-changer. For execution. For the team. For quality.”
