Kunz Solartech x Benetics: Work Smarter, Document Better

Kunz Solartech specializes in photovoltaic systems of all kinds. From single-family homes to large commercial rooftops, the company completes dozens of projects every year. With around 30 employees and eight installation crews, both the pace and the need for clarity in documentation are high. Since 2025, the team has been using Benetics—making the leap from paper binders to digital installation files.
  • Industry: Solar Technology
  • Employees: approx. 30

The Challenge: Paper piles and constant plan updates

Until recently, much of the work was still paper-based. Every project meant dozens of pages of plans and documents. Whenever something changed, everything had to be reprinted—an enormous effort. “We calculated how much paper we used just for installation binders each year,” says Dominik Leuenberger, Head of Internal Operations.

“In the end, the cost was almost the same as Benetics—except paper doesn’t make anything easier.”

The Solution: Digital installation files in Benetics

Since August 2025, paper binders at Kunz Solartech are history. All installation crews now work with digital files in Benetics.

“Today, we upload all relevant documents directly to the app. Updates are instantly visible to everyone—whether in the office or on the roof,” Dominik explains.

This not only relieves project managers but also makes teamwork more flexible. If one installer is absent, another can step in immediately. All information is up to date and available on their smartphone.

Another major benefit: photos and documentation are no longer scattered across phones or chat groups. “Now the installer takes the photo directly in Benetics. It’s instantly stored in the project, neatly organized, and no longer filling up their device. And we take a lot of photos.”

Quality and traceability are key

Documentation is crucial for solar systems—whether for warranty claims or future upgrades.“If a customer calls years later for an extension, we can see in seconds how the system was built thanks to photos and checklists,” says Dominik. “From substructure to cabling to the inverter—everything is documented. This saves us enormous time in service and builds customer trust.”

Technical measurements also run more smoothly today: “In the past, DC measurements were just a photo of the meter. Now we log them in Benetics—with serial number, weather, and all details in one place. Much cleaner, more complete, and reliable.”

Clarity for project managers

Benetics makes work easier not only for installers but also for project managers.“Previously, it was hard to keep track of which projects were ready. Now, with Benetics, I can see at a glance which ones are scheduled for next week. Planning is much easier.”

Cross-site collaboration also benefits: “Before, documents had to be physically exchanged between Brittnau and Grenchen. Now they’re online—each office can continue instantly.”

Three things that changed with Benetics

  • Real-time updates: changes from the office are instantly on-site.
  • Complete documentation: from photos to test reports, all in one system.
  • Clear overview: project managers instantly see project progress.

Conclusion: An investment in the future

“Benetics is not just a daily tool but also an investment in the future,” says Dominik. “We document more completely, work more efficiently, and are far more structured overall. That makes us faster, safer, and more professional—to the benefit of our employees and our customers.”
